微软宣布首批 Windows Mobile 6.5 手机（即 Windows Phones）将会于 2009 年 10 月 6 日上市，全球多家手机制造商（例如：HP, HTC 等）以及移动运营商（例如：AT&T, Verizon Wireless 等）都将发布各自的 Windows Mobile 6.5 手机。

值得注意的是，微软移动应用商店 Windows Marketplace for Mobile 以及微软移动同步备份服务 My Phone 也将在 10 月 6 日正式发布。微软移动应用商店 Windows Marketplace for Mobile 除了支持“运营商应用专区”之外，还将包括“企业应用中心”。而 My Phone 则将成为 Mesh 的一部分，支持远程锁机/远程销毁数据、寻找丢失手机功能“Find My Phone”，并可能推出收费的 My Phone 高级服务订阅。

届时，微软还可能推出 Tellme 语音应用，以及一款专为 Windows Mobile 6.5 准备的主题编辑软件。而这之后，我会将更多注意力转至 Windows Mobile 7 的。
