最近有不少关于 Google Maps 对格鲁吉亚地图到底做了什么的讨论引起了轰动，在今天的一篇日志中，Google 表示他们并未对格鲁吉亚地图做过任何改动，他们从开始就没有添加格鲁吉亚的地图数据：

Some of our customers have asked if we removed map data from any of these countries in response to the recent hostilities in that region and I can assure you that is not the case. Data for these countries were never on Google Maps in the first place.

另外有一则与上面无关的有趣的发现，PhotoShop Disasters 发表了一篇: Google Maps: Unusually Similar Trees = Black Helicopters，其中提到了 Google Maps 中有出现不寻常的重复的白色的树（左图：Google Maps，右图：Live Search Maps）：

为什么 PhotoShop Disasters 会发这张图呢？实在令人费解。

微软 Windows Live 个性化主页已经相当久没有更新了，即使是地址变更到了 http://My.Live.com，也没有任何功能上的更新；相比，Google 倒是非常地迅速，在 6 月推出了新版 iGoogle 的测试。

原本的标签被移动到了左边，并支持最大化 Gadget 功能：

还支持完整版 Gmail（添加 Gmail Gadget 即可）：

Windows Live Web Messenger 至今未发布，而 Google Talk 在线版已经整合入了不少的服务当中，同样，也包括新版 iGoogle：

Google 今天推出了一款新的 Beta 服务，叫做 Lively。安装完客户端之后，运行并登录 Lively 即可使用。以下是来自 Google Blogoscoped 的介绍:

Once you logged into a room, you can start customizing your avatar. First you can pick from a base type – like male, female or animal – and then you can fine-tune your hair, skin color, eyes and more. You’ll then see yourself surrounded by other avatars, and there’s background music and lots of laughing, grunting and other noises. The graphic has a lighthearted cartoon touch, reminiscent of something like a Lucasarts 3D game. When you talk by using the chat box at the bottom, your words appear as speech bubble above your character.

另外，还有一个 3D 产品在今天再次宣布（之前已经宣布过）。Vivaty 目前支持 Facebook 和 AIM：

面对这一切，微软将如何应对呢？我们的朋友 Jamie 总结了一些“线索”：

• In Fall (I call it Autumn) 2007 a Microsoft exec said to expect big things in about a year or so.
• There’s a big Virtual Earth release coming up in fall 2008 so says a Virtual Earth evangelist.
• Someone involved with building 3D models in Virtual Earth has come out and said that Microsoft are building a virtual world using Virtual Earth.

根据 Gmail 的官方博客最新更新，Gmail 的用户可以在登录的信箱页面底部显示的信息得知：登入该帐户的最后登录信息，并且自己的账户是否在最后一次登陆时采取了登出操作。

该信息包含了最后登陆的 IP 地址，最后登陆的时间等等。点击 Details 的连接，就可以看到我最后一个登陆本账户更加详细的信息内容：

• 该信息内容顶部的 “Concurrent session information”，显示了目前活动状态的所有连接。包括了 IP 地址以及连接方式，其中的连接方式明确了电子邮件的收取方式，例如 iGoogle、POP3 或者移动设备。
• 该信息内容底部的 “Recent activity”，显示了该账户最近几次登陆的 IP 地址以及相应的登陆时间。
• 该信息内容最底部，我们也可以查看当前该账户登陆的 IP 地址：”This computer is using IP address…”。

注意：该功能正在应用于最新版本的 Gmail，并同时适用于 Firefox 和  Internet Explorer 7。

根据 Gizmodo 上的一篇日志提到，Google Maps 街景摄像车开进了微软 campus，并且在 整个办公园区内边开边拍照。甚至这部 “Googcar”还开到离 Windows Live Maps 团队所在大楼 Building 116 相当近的地方。

the Google guys were driving around the team that does Windows Live Maps, like nothing was wrong, when other Microsoft guys were laughing and yelling at them. Much nerd hilarity ensued.

尽管有一些信息隐私的考量，Google Maps 仍然在不断推广它的街景视图的服务。Windows Live Maps 虽然也曾经测试了一个类似街景视图的服务，Windows Live Local，虽然该站点仍然可以访问，但已经不再有什么更新了。

我们之前介绍过惠普电脑将在 09 年部署 Live Search 工具栏。

而根据 Sony PSP 的官方博客消息，在即将发布的 v4.00 的 PSP 系统软件更新中，将在 XMB 界面添加 Google Internet Search 的功能。

PSP 的用户只需要先将 PSP 设备无线连接至 Internet，就可以使用这一搜索功能，而搜索结果将返回等同于 www.google.com 站点的搜索结果，并可记最新 20 个搜索记录。

Google 将推出 Profiles 服务，以下这段是官方的介绍：

A Google Profile is simply how you represent yourself on Google products — it lets you tell others a bit more about who you are and what you’re all about. You control what goes into your Google Profile, sharing as much (or as little) as you’d like.

Google Profiles 将会整合于大部分 Google 的服务，并且提供简便的方式来管理联系人。

很显然，Google 已经意识到提供一个在线身份服务的重要性了。我曾经提到过，Windows Live Spaces 将会成为微软 Windows Live 社会性网络的中心，越来越多的社会化服务将会像 Photos 和 Events 一样，整合于 Live Spaces。

这一切整合的基础就是 Windows Live ID，每个 Windows Live ID 的公开信息及访问权限可以在 Windows Live Accounts 或者 Windows Live Spaces 中设置。并且，微软许多的服务，如：Zune, Xbox LIVE 都整合了 Windows Live ID 平台。在最新的 Xbox LIVE 更新中，已经可以添加 Live Messenger 联系人

Windows Live ID 也整合了 Live Contacts 服务，联系人信息统一存储于微软服务器中，并且在 Live Hotmail, Live Spaces, Live Messenger 等重要服务中无缝整合 Live Contacts，整个联系人管理的体验非常完整，可以在许多的 Windows Live 服务中，进行联系人管理和权限设置。

大家都知道，在 Windows Live Spaces 中的 Profile 页面可以显示用户设置的个人信，并且用户可以设置自己 Profile 页面的访问权限。Windows Live Spaces 还支持搜索用户公开信息的功能，比如寻找拥有类似兴趣的网友。

移动设备平台也是微软 Windows Live 战略重点之一，经常关注 Windows Live 的用户可以发现，最近移动平台上的 Windows Live 新闻是很多的。在 Windows Mobile 和 Nokia S60 平台上都有客户端，可以登录 Live Messenger 查看 Live Contacts 并发起对话，并且对于其他手机等移动设备，mobile.live.com 也能满足基本的使用，如：给联系人发送邮件，使用移动 Web 版的 Messenger。总的来说，Windows Live ID 无处不在。

Brandon LeBlanc 提到：

I am hearing quite a bit of a Google connecting their web services together like integrating the Google Address Book from Gmail with Google Reader. That’s great but Microsoft has already been integrating their unified "address book" in Windows Live across Windows Live for a while now. When I heard Google was now rolling out "centralized profiles" across the board - I couldn’t help but think "hey, I’ve had that with Windows Live for a while now".

Google is preparing a service that would let users store on its computers essentially all of the files they might keep on their personal-computer hard drives — such as word-processing documents, digital music, video clips and images, say people familiar with the matter. The service could let users access the files via the Internet from different computers and mobile devices and share them online …

在11月27日的科技类新闻中，也有暗示 Google 不久将会推出在线存储服务，该服务将会直接与 Amazon 的 S3，Box.net 等服务竞争。

Windows Live 早已经有类似产品了 - SkyDrive，目前仍处于 Beta 测试阶段，而且提供了 1GB 存储空间。微软同样也正在准备另外一个产品 Office Live Workspaces ，该服务允许用户在线存储和访问文件。Office Live Workspaces 将会在 12 月份推出 Beta 测试，提供 500MB 免费存储，在线编辑和共享。有趣的是，微软的 Office Live Workspaces 没有在华尔街日报的文章中提到，是不是微软在在线服务中仍不算一名竞争者吗？而且最近，Hotmail 的创始人 Sabeer Bhatia 宣布了 Live Documents，很快，就被称为 Microsoft Office 杀手。

然而，微软作为一个网络服务领域的后来者，正处于一个非常独特的位置。微软学习了其他领先的公司（如: Google），很快就推出了在线存储核心平台的多个服务：SkyDrive ，Hotmail （免费 5GB 存储空间），以及不久之后的 Workspaces，还有将来更多的建立在统一存储平台上的服务。

微软提供的存储空间 512MB 和 1GB 并不引人注意，微软为什么不做一个榜样，带头提升整个领域的存储空间标准，就像当年 Gmail 的出现那样。或许 Windows Live 现在提供一个桌面客户端会引起更多关注，而且会带来更多的用户。当然，说起来总是比做容易的。微软最近又计划建立新的数据中心：俄罗斯 Irkusk ，微软将会在在线存储服务的竞争中领先，还是落后，让我们拭目以待。:D
