来自 Machine Translator 博客的消息：新版本的 Windows Live Translator 已经可以访问，包括与 Encarta 在线词典的整合，以及付费人工翻译服务 Live Translation。微软研究院机器翻译团队的测试主管  Helvecio Ribeiro 在 SkyDrive 上发布了一个新功能介绍视频（无需代理即可下载）：

新的功能只支持以下的翻译语言，并且只有用以下这些翻译语言才能看到 Encarta 选项：

• English to Spanish
• Spanish to English
• English to French
• French to English
• English to German
• German to English
• English to Italian
• Italian to English

人工翻译 Live Translation 支持以下翻译语言：

• English to Spanish
• Spanish to English
• English to German
• German to English
• English to Italian
• Italian to English
• English to French
• French to English
• English to Portuguese
• Portuguese to English

现在还不知其他的更新，但 Helvecio 保证将会公布官方的公告。

LiveSide: Windows Live Translator updated

微软研究院机器翻译团队推出了一个更新版的 Windows Live Translator。新的界面也优化过了，但我们没有发现任何的新功能。一些人报告 IE8 翻译 Activity 已经失效，这似乎是由于部分 API 被改动了。我们希望官方能及时修复。

Andrea Jessee，微软研究机器翻译的高级项目经理，虽然有点晚不过最终还是推出了Windows Live Translator beta版。

Andrea强调了”Bi-Lingual Viewer”的一些特色，这些特色在许多站点并没有做介绍。除了双边界面，Windows Live Translator还包括了顶部/底层模式，以及另外2个有趣的视角来显示翻译好的文章和等待翻译的文章。

微软注册新域名，试图推新产品 Translator？现在的答案是：已经上线了。

Windows Live Translator beta 是由 SYSTRAN 提供技术的，而不是微软的。

以下有几点要值得注意的：

• 不是所有的语言都正常工作
• 有一项“计算机相关内容”的选项，相信以后会拓展至其他领域。
• 整页翻译有 4 种查看方式
• 同时，在 Feedback.live.com 中也出现了 Translator 的链接。

最近10天里，有不少域名被微软注册，或者是被转向微软的服务器，很有意思的是，微软注册了一系列关于 Translator 的域名：

• WindowsLivetranslator-int.com, .net., .org
• windowsLiveTranslatorV.com
• windowslivetranslator.com, .net

这不得不令我想到微软可能推出 Windows Live Translator 。虽还不知微软注册这些域名的目的是什么，如果微软推出 Windows Live Translator ，势必会整合入一些微软的服务：Live Hotmail，Live Messenger，或者其他？

在此引用且听枫吟的一句话：“机器翻译说到底是统计模型，微软的机器翻译如果想比 Google 的好5%，付出的代价则是：微软的统计样本量至少是Google的10倍”。难道微软真的那么自信？
