MIX 11: 微软演示 Kinect SDK 操作 WorldWide Telescope

微软今天在 MIX 11 会议上演示了疑似官方的 Kinect SDK，并通过 Kinect 体验了一把新版 WorldWide Telescope – 微软研究院的虚拟宇宙浏览软件。

通过手势就可以缩放、翻转、移动 WorldWide Telescope 的视角，据 Long Zheng 的观察，手势操作准确，也很流畅。据说明天微软就会发布研究性质的免费 Kinect for Windows SDK，值得关注。

微软 WorldWide Telescope 与 NASA 合作发布火星图像

今微软研究院的 Faculty Summit 2010 峰会上，微软宣布了与 NASA 合作的全新 WorldWide Telescope 火星探索体验：WWT | Mars，据说这些图像是现今最为完整、清晰的火星图像。

WorldWide TeleScope 是微软研究院推出的宇宙探索项目，包含了 TB 级的星云、星座、行星等天体的照片数据，宇宙全景照片等图像数据。并且，这些数据都是免费提供给用户浏览、研究的。

除了 WWT | Mars 外，WorldWide Telescope 还增强了球星天体图像的缝合技术，以消除图像拼接之处的明显缝隙，使整个天体看起来更加真实。

必应 Bing Maps 新应用之 WordWide Telescope 体验

Blaise Aguera y Arcas 在 TED 2010 会议上演示的 Bing Maps 新应用 WorldWide Telescope 已经推出，可在 Bing Maps 左下角的“地图应用”中开启它。值得注意的是，该应用的内部名称为 SkyView，目前为 Bing Maps 的实验性应用。

简而言之，WorldWide Telescope 就是微软研究院的一款宇宙空间探索项目，可浏览宇宙天体或用于学术研究。如今已经可以在 Bing Maps 中享受这些数据了。

开启该应用后，左侧的导航会提示你如何从地球模式切换至宇宙模式，可选择观测地点，或直接从街景服务中“抬头”（拖动鼠标使视角对准天空）进入。

左侧的导航还支持显示附近天体、天体的信息。另外，它也提供了“切换至天体”和“返回地球”的快捷链接。主界面左下角的时间可拖动调整，以显示天体的当时位置。其右侧的问号按钮可用于查看目标天体的名字。

TED2010: 必应 Bing Maps 的更多“空间搜索”新酷特性

微软在 TED 2010 会议上并不仅仅推出了其 Bing Maps 的 Flickr 街景照片应用，Bing Maps 首席架构师 Blaise Aguera y Arcas 还演示了众多微软 Bing Maps 的新酷特性，包括：WorldWide Telescope 整合、室内全景、视频遮盖层技术。

以下是各特性和应用的介绍：

街景照片应用

Streetside Photos（技术预览版）支持将已地理标注过的 Flickr 照片整合进 Bing Maps 街景服务，并自动无缝覆盖于实际视角的位置。（体验）

WorldWide Telescope 整合

WorldWide Telescope 是微软研究院在 08 年推出的一项宇宙空间探索项目，借助 WorldWide Telescope 软件或浏览器，就可直接查看宇宙的天体图像并进行探索。

而此次 Bing Maps 将直接在其街景服务中整合 WorldWide Telescope，当用户在查看 Bing Maps 街景时，“抬头”（拖动鼠标使视角对准天空）即可进入宇宙探索模式。

室内全景

微软 Bing Maps 的街景不仅仅包括拍摄车拍摄到的图像，而且也将包括背包相机获取到的室内全景照片数据（依靠微软的全景缝合技术）。Bing Maps 可以帮助用户完全地浏览超市，或者主题公园内部的图像。

视频遮盖层技术

Blaise 也演示了微软最新视频遮盖层技术的预览版，该技术直接将实时视频层无缝覆盖在了街景图像上方的。值得注意的是，视频的周围的确是和背景的街景照片无缝拼接的，就像 Bing Maps 的 Flickr 街景照片应用那样。

Bing 的确是让不少微软的高端技术平民化了。

Ted.com 将会在本周发布整段 Bing Maps 新技术演示视频，届时我将发新文给出。而《连线》发布了一部关于室内全景和视频遮盖层技术整合应用的视频（查看）。

今天推出的只有 Bing Maps 的 Flickr 街景照片应用，相信接下来这一年里，Bing 所推出的新体验会让 Bing 更实用。

WorldWide Telescope Aphelion 发布，Web 版开始 Beta 测试

WorldWide Telescope 团队发布了 Windows 版和 Web 版 WorldWide Telescope 的更新，代号“远日点 Aphelion”。此次的 Aphelion 更新包括了许多新特性和 Bug 修复，更重要的是，Web 版 WorldWide Telescope 已正式结束技术预览阶段，开始了 Beta 测试。

Windows 版客户端已对地球和太阳采用了实感渲染，也对木星的卫星增加阴影，并支持 3D 眼镜，新的宇宙渲染也已加入当前银河系外观测的最佳图像。Windows 版与 Web 版同样都增加了针对天文学家的专业功能，包括：显示 FITS 图像，以及 Virtual Observatory 查询功能。

WorldWide Telescope 团队已推出 WorldWide Telescope SDK，具体信息可查看 WorldWide Telescope SDK 开发者项目页。同时，WorldWide Telescope 团队也在和教育机构合作，试图寻找新的合作机会。

WorldWide Telescope 免费为业余天文爱好者或天文学家提供了 TB 级的天文数据（数据来自 NASA 的哈勃太空望远镜、Chandra X 射线天文台中心，以及 Spitzer 太空望远镜），而 Windows 版客户端在今年 3 月已有 200 万次的下载量。

Windows 用户可下载 WorldWide Telescope Aphelion 客户端（或运行 WorldWide TeleScope 自动更新），Windows 或 Mac 用户可访问基于 Silverlight 3.0 的 Web 版 WorldWide Telescope Aphelion。

注: WorldWide Telescope 支持多种语言，其中包括简体中文。具体方法：Settings –> Select Your Language 选择 Simplified Chinese。

PhotoSynth, WorldWide Telescope 入榜 09 年《时代》50 佳网站

《时代》杂志评出了 2009 年“50 佳网站”，其中微软仅 PhotoSynth 和 WorldWide Telescope 上榜。而事实上，相比其他上榜的网站，例如：Flickr, Twitter, YouTube，微软的 PhotoSynth 和 WorldWide Telescope 显得更加的“小众”。

PhotoSynth

PhotoSynth 是微软的一款利用 2D 照片生成 3D 环境的“软件 + 服务”产品，而上榜的 Photosynth.net 是 PhotoSynth 产品的在线服务（基于 Silverlight，支持 Windows 和 Mac），Photosynth.net 允许用户查看、收藏、分享 Synth，而像美国国家地理学会等组织也正在使用 PhotoSynth 分享他们的作品。

PhotoSynth.net 于 08 年 8 月 21 日正式上线，而 PhotoSynth 团队前阵子公布了这一年以来的统计数据。今年 5 月，微软宣布将 PhotoSynth 整合入 Virtual Earth 平台（即现在的 Bing Maps for Enterprise），并增加商业许可模式。

更有趣的是，传微软计划推出由“用户贡献”和 PhotoSynth 等技术驱动的街景服务 GeoSynth，以对抗 Google 街景服务 Street View。

WorldWide TeleScope

WorldWide TeleScope 是微软研究院（即 Microsoft Research）的宇宙探索产品项目，分为软件版和 Web 版。上榜的 Web 版 WorldWide TeleScope 正是今年 Mix 09 上推出的，支持 Windows 和 Mac（需安装 Silverlight）。

WorldWide TeleScope 包含了 TB 级的星云、星座、行星等天体的照片数据，宇宙全景照片、以及 Bing Maps 的地球图像数据。而这些数据都是免费提供给用户浏览、研究的。

在祝贺微软 PhotoSynth 和 WorldWide TeleScope 团队的同时，我也相信会有越来越多的产品使用 Silverlight 技术，论这两款产品的共性，恐怕就是都基于 Silverlight 技术的。

简单回顾下这款来自 Microsoft Research 的 WorldWide Telescope 的发展历史：

08 年 2 月底，WorldWide Telescope 开始微软内部测试；
08 年 5 月中旬，WorldWide Telescope 正式推出，并有近 200 万用户下载了客户端；
08 年 10 月，WorldWide Telescope 整合入 Virtual Earth；
08 年 11 月，WorldWide Telescope 与 Disney – Pixar 合作；
09 年 3 月，推出 Web 版 WorldWide Telescope（基于 Silverlight）；
09 年 3 月 24 日，NASA 和微软宣布合作计划，WorldWide Telescope 将增加 100 TB 的宇宙图像数据。

还包括 WorldWide Telescope 的两次重要更新：

08 年 10 月底 PDC08 上，WorldWide Telescope 支持 3D – Equinox Beta 更新推出；
09 年 1 月 CES09 上，WorldWide Telescope 更新：Solstice Borealis Beta。

微软研究院软件设计工程师 Jonathan Fay 和微软研究院首席研究员 Curtis Wong 共同创建了 Worldwide Telescope。WorldWide Telescope 团队也继续着与全球专家共同创建本地化 WorldWide Telescope 的数据。其团队已经创建了一个允许本地高校翻译 WorldWide Telescope 界面的应用，并且首先将翻译至中文。

WorldWide Telescope 已获得两项奖项的提名：爱迪生奖 Edison Award 和 American Institute of Graphic Arts Award（AIGA）。爱迪生奖的获奖名单将于 4 月 1 日揭晓，而 AIGA 奖则要到春季末。

Mix09: 微软推出 Web 版 WorldWide Telescope

微软推出了基于 Silverlight 2.0 的 Web 版 WorldWide Telescope，也就是说，从今天起，WorldWide Telescope 不再只限于 Windows 操作系统用户，只要有支持 Silverlight 2.0 的操作系统/浏览器即可使用 WorldWide Telescope。

以下是 Web Client 版 WorldWide Telescope 的功能列表：

访问 TB 数量级的宇宙、地球及天体数据；
支持 3D 球面环境的无缝导航；
通过 Finder Scope 功能快速识别天体；
即时缩略图功能；
通过在线天文目录获取亿万物体信息；
从本地读取 Tours, 图像以及其他 WorldWide Telescope 数据；
实时行星、卫星位置；
倒退或前进 2000 年（以内皆可）；
查看 Guided Tours（无 3D 行星）；
查看本地 WorldWide Telescope 收藏；
Virtual Observatory Cone 搜索/注册查询，以及 SIMBAD 搜索。

微软还将为 Web 版 WorldWide Telescope 增加更改观察位置及一套基础的太阳系视图功能。微软此次通过 Silverlight 完成了跨平台的工作，然而 Web 版仍有大量功能没有实现。

此时，Silverlight 3 Beta 已经发布，被大量编辑编译的 Ars Technica 站点有详细的介绍和下载链接。

WorldWide Telescope 更新：Solstice Borealis Beta

WorldWide Telescope 已发布更新，最新版本为 2.2.41.1 称为 Solstice Borealis Beta。本次更新具体内容包括：

模拟国家天文台锥形检索/存档记录查询 — 根据美国国家天文台（National Virtual Observatory/NVO）存档记录信息，搜索天体信息。可以通过菜单中的 “Search”完成。
三维立体视图 — WorldWide Telescope(WWT) 支持立体照片 3D 视图。立体视图也支持屏幕分块显示正常和立体照片视图或者倾斜视图。可以通过菜单中的 “View”完成。
图像校正 — 简单易用的 Pivot Align 功能。只需要载入任何图片，对准相应的星体，右击星体中心并拖动任何其他的星体可以对视图进行缩放和旋转对背景进行精确匹配。使用快捷健 CTRL+E 还可以调用 Map Cruncher 功能。

你可以通过下列两种方法安装相应更新：

如果你已经安装了 WorldWide Telescope ，则打开程序即可看到弹出的更新提示窗口，点击确定自动安装即可；
你也可以直接访问 WorldWide Telescope 站点免费下载并安装。

微软研究院和迪斯尼•皮克斯动画合作，携手推出了一个虚拟的宇宙之旅，而带我们进行这场宇宙之旅的不是别人，正是…WALL•E！！策划了整场宇宙之旅的也正是 WALL•E 原著作者以及电影 WALL•E 的导演 Andrew Stanton。谈到 WALL•E 带领我们进行的这场宇宙之旅，Stanton 这样说道：

Using Microsoft’s WorldWide Telescope, WALL•E takes you on a real ride through space. After watching the movie on DVD, the whole family will be inspired to learn more about the world in which we live and the universe beyond.

利用微软的 WorldWide Telescope，WALL•E 带我们进入一个几近真实的太空之旅。通过这个影片，所有人都会被我们的世界以及宇宙所吸引。

PP2 之前帮我们介绍过很多关于 WWT(WorldWide Telescope)的内容，WWT 通过来自全球的地面和太空基地的高画质影像让人们可以任意“遨游”于外太空。WWT 已经被天文和教育机构誉为天文学方面资源的基础敎纲，供学生及天文学爱好者浏览。
