Google 是如何描述 GDrive 的

最近有非常频繁的 GDrive 线索出现于 Google 多个产品中，而这个传叻几年的 Google 在线存储服务也始终没有发布。现在，Google Operating System 又给我们介绍了由 Brain Ussery 发现的新线索，Google Pack 中一个文件中所包含的 Google 官方对 GDrive 的描述：

GDrive Category: Online file backup and Storage – 在线文件备份和存储

GDRIVE_DESCRIPTION_1 = ‘GDrive provides reliable storage for all of your files, including photos, music and documents’ – GDrive 为您所有文件，包括照片、音乐和文档，提供可靠的在线存储。

GDRIVE_DESCRIPTION_2 = ‘GDrive allows you to access your files from anywhere, anytime, and from any device –  be it from your desktop, web browser or cellular phone’  – GDrive 允许您在任何地方，任何时间，通过任何设备（包括您的桌面、浏览器和手机）访问您的文件。

另外，在 Google Is Watching You 公开的 “GDrive on Cosmo Getting Started Guide” 文档中， 介绍了 GDrive 的分享流程，其中也有一些有意思的线索：

How to Share
We’re working on the sharing UI workflow in the client but it’s not quite done yet, so as a work around you can do the following to share folders and files from the client
* Make sure the files you want to share are on GDrive (g:\), you can just drag them on using Windows explorer if they’re not already
* Visit the WebUI (http://w.svc-1.google.com/a/google.com )
* Select the folder or file you would like to share
* Click the “Share” button in the WebUI toolbar
* Type in the username/email address of the people you would like to share with and click “Send”

GDrive 应该是支持 Windows Explorer 拖曳操作（也只是可能，该文档可能是假的）的，而微软的 Windows Live SkyDrive 还不支持 Windows Explorer 操作。

微软 Windows Live SkyDrive 也提供了在线存储服务（也可能推出备份服务）。但微软有一个致命的问题：现在有存储&同步类服务和品牌相当多，但都独立 – 包括以下服务：Windows Live SkyDrive & Photos（25GB）, Windows Live Hotmail（无限空间）, Windows Live Sync（同步，但不提供在线存储）, Live Mesh（5GB）和 Office Live Workspace（500MB）等。这些服务的存储空间都是独立的，并且不同服务之间数据不能够调用、操作，用户体验也并不相同。尽管如此，微软最近也有所行动：

• Microsoft 将合并 Windows Live 和 Office Live
• Live Mesh 团队已加入 Windows/Windows Live 组织

Windows Live, Office Live 和 Live Mesh 三个品牌混一起会发生什么，微软自会给出答案，但愿微软不仅是出于缩减开支应对金融危机而采取这些行动的。不过可以肯定的是，GDrive 的推出将会给微软带来不轻的压力。 😛
