在周二的 Search Engine Strategies 会议上，有份报告称，微软计划利用其收购的 Powerset 从 Google 那获得市场份额。微软高级副总裁 Satya Nadella 相信该计划能帮助 Live Search 更好的理解用户的意图，从而使得微软搜索脱离窘境。引用自 Satya Nadella：
“I believe this notion of understanding user intent–being able to analyze (search queries) and come up with search patterns and use them to shape the search experience–is one of the most important areas for us”
最近的 Neilsen Online 统计表明，在美国搜索引擎市场中，Google 的份额继续上升，而 Live Search仍是下降。
但微软对 Powerset 及其搜索很有信心，并且 Powerset 的总经理 Scott Prevost 表示：Bill has definitely not retired for us. 比尔盖茨并没有完全退休，他曾计划从事搜索方面的工作。
Nadella 还谈论了 Live Search 的垂直搜索计划，包括：旅游，健康，图片，以及视频。Live Search 在这几个方面做得的确不错，但仍不能扭转目前搜索引擎市场的局势。
