微软准备推出一个新的平台，代号为“Echoes"，并希望通过这个平台向更多的电信用户提供 Windows Live 服务以及其他即将推出的微软服务。
Echoes 平台的近期目标就是使 Windows Live Mobile 移动版服务部署更加容易，微软已经与几家电信公司开始了 Echoes 的内部测试，微软预计在2008年7月推出该平台的第一阶段产品。
Echoes 第一阶段将提供大量的服务，包括网络地址簿，短信收发，点击呼叫，登录助手等服务。消息称，Echoes 将会与 Windows Live Messenger 9.0 Wave3 在 2008 年第四季度共同推出。当然 Echoes 也可能包括 Windows Live OneCare 安全服务，MSTV 以及其他娱乐解决方案，还包括微软在今年收购的 Danger 的服务。
另外，Echoes 还可能成为微软移动广告平台的重要部分。

[...] 昨天介绍了微软试图通过 Echoes 增长 Windows Live Mobile 和 TV 服务份额，Mary Jo Foley 发表了一篇更详细的介绍。她在 5 月份 Bill Gates 在日本的演讲稿中发现了以下内容： “Right now the mobile phone, the desktop phone, the e-mail that you have on the PC, or instant messaging, these are all very different things, and the issues about how much of your information or your schedule, your current activity you share with people who communicate with you is not well designed…. By bringing together all of these kinds of communication, we can greatly simplify them. We can get rid of phone numbers（我们可以放弃电话号码）, have it so when you say you want to contact someone, based on who you are and where that person is, they can decide whether to take the call or take a message about that, and so a great efficiency improvement that can be made there.” [...]
