Windows 8.1 预览版中的确加入了一批 Windows 8 用户反馈的新功能，但微软也在 Windows 8.1 预览版中删除或缺失了一些 Windows 8 原有或官方应用中的功能。下面是 Ed Bott 提到的部分清单：
- 传统的 Windows 备份程序已经被删除，相关的 Sdclt.exe 和 Sdcpl.dll Windows 备份服务文件都已经被删除。还原备份镜像的功能仍在，只是不再能创建新的备份镜像
- Windows 体验指数（Windows Experience Index）不再显示，但用于生成体验指数的 Windows 系统评估工具仍在
- 消息（Messaging）应用删除，消息称微软决定 Skype 代替消息应用
- 新的照片应用虽然加入了编辑功能，但已经不再支持社交 Flickr、Facebook 相册，但 SkyDrive 的整合将在正式版中加入
- SkyDrive 功能已经整合到了 Windows 8.1 和 Windows RT 8.1 中，相比 Windows 8 中的独立 SkyDrive 客户端，一些功能目前还未实现，比如更改同步文件夹位置，新的 SkyDrive 内置也无法直观显示是否下载到本地的状态
需要注意的是，以上这些删除或缺失的功能可能会在 8 月底 Windows 8.1 RTM 版本中重新加入，但无法保证所有都会回归。如果你已经安装 Windows 8.1 预览版，你还注意到哪些 8.1 中删除或缺失的功能？是否影响你的使用？
